Hindus annually observe Maha Shivratri in the late winter. The event takes place on the 13th or 14th day of the lunar month, which either falls in February or March. The event will be commemorated on February 18th of this year. The majority of devotees fast that day and recite the name of Lord Shiva all night long. The day is of great spiritual significance.
